Hei alle sammen,
Adrian her, Pastor Mark har bedt meg om å skrive en blogg om vår tur til uganda. So her we go.
Jeg skrive på engelsk,
What an amazing trip our team just had to Uganda! 12 days of sweat, blood and a few tears for some. I guess I will start at the beginning. but I know that some details are going to be missed. So why not start saving now so that you can experience Uganda for yourself next trip!
When we arrived we were welcomed by our host for the trip Paul. (he is the man) He was with us the whole trip, he was also a well of knowledge when it came to everything ugandan. We felt like VIPs the whole time.
Our second day we came to the foundation of the house we were going to build. 90m2.
3 bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and a living area. What an experience 7 Norwegians blokes working with a bunch of ugandan workers. Well after 3 days hard work we were finished the house. Well finished everything we could do. All the walls outside and inside standing almost perfect. I say almost because i was on the team and for those who know me building a house is not something I do on a day off..
After the 3 days hard work we had a dedication service. There we celebrated with the ugandan workers and some of the watoto leader that we had built a house, that will shelter 8 child who right now live on the streets of kampala, but soon will be future leaders of uganda. Pretty crazy..
We prayed for these children who we do not yet know and the lady who will be there new mother.. And then the workers from uganda prayed for us.. They prayed that God would bless us with more money so that we can come and build more homes and support the future of uganda! This was a powerful moment.
Next day was Church. Watoto Church has 7 locations but is one church.. they have around 19000 people in their services over a weekend. We went to their central location, and it was rocking! We felt right at home, there with a couple thousand others praise God with relevant rock and roll Praise and worship.. That´s right ugandans know how to praise God loud.. Was amazing.. To hear the voices of a couple thousand people singing with everything they had was so powerful.. Loved the church loved the people.. There was a guest preacher from Canada called John burns, had a great message about Sex.. The guys from our team loved it!
Monday morning 4am he arlam went off.. it was time to go on Safari.. What we didn´t know was that to get there it would be the worst road i have driven on in my life!! but after 7-8 hours driving and a ferry that looked like it would sink. we made it to a 5 star Safari Lodge (no one told us it would be so great) What a blessing after a week of hard work it was time to live life with buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner! THe safari was awsome we saw all the animals and sat in our car 3 meter from 4 hungry lions.. They while we were eating dinner a hippo just walked past the swimming pool and restaurant were we ate..
After the 3 day safari we drove back to kampala but this time it took 12 hours from when we left there to our home away from home.. First the road was insane so we had to drive slow, then our tire exploded and we could not find the jack or the thing to get the tire out from under the bus.. and then we hit peak hour traffic in kampala (and that has got to be experience to believe).
After a good nights rest we visited the baby homes that watoto have. There are 99 babies there all of them pick up from the side of the road, in rubbish bins or abandoned in hosptials! It was an amazing time, playing, feeding and putting these little ones to bed for there afternoon nap..
There is so much more, but if you have read all this so far.. Thank you...
Now we are inspired, challenged and ready to keep living lives full on for God, making a difference with the little we have and we have decided to stop talking about the weather.. (not one person in uganda talked about the weather to us, something must be wrong with us summøring people)
Anyway.. just a few hours to church and I am real excited to praise God with my family again..
See you at 6.55pm..
Adrian
